The world now looks like this….. the Y’varha is the suit that I mentioned 2 years ago; after discussions with Daren… the “punch in, punch out suit”… the difference being is that due to the success of the R’varna, they decided that instead of the ‘intermediate’ suit (between a stealth and Crisis) that it was originally penned for, they decided to go big!

They now have filled the niches:

Riptide: Big Crisis suit
Y’varha: Big Hazard suit
R’varna: Big Broadside suit

Now, where might you ask, will they go next?…… and this is the best bit.

BIGGER suits.

Yes you heard it here first…. Next year (hopefully) they want to make a LoW/ super heavy walker suit. The Dynamic of the Knights entering 40k play has shifted who is the king of the mecha, hence developing the Y’vahra to combat (not go toe to toe- but have something that has a chance of taking it down) Knight and therefore want to properly re-address the balance.

This takes the meta of Tau warfare into a new paradigm…. Long gone is the thought of static gun lines and ‘lure’. The Tau empire are now at the point of “making each life count for the good”, taking more (calculated) risks and being able to take the fight to the enemy. This is Alan and Neil’s thoughts on how to introduce new models to the range.

Alongside the heavy walker, Daren and Neil also want to expand the range of vehicles….. The Devilfish as the workhorse of the Tau is not enough to prompt different styles of play. We talked about small open topped 6 man transports which would allow for quick insertion, rapid grab objective Firewarrior teams and also drone supplementation vehicles….. they seemed to like these ideas;-)

Tony Cotteral in the seminar kindly answered my question on support for 40k forces outside of marines, and he thinks that they will do a book next year with Tau as the main protagonists! This ties in with Blake and Daren’s passion for the range and so next year should be good for the greater….

Oh and Phil Kelly is still working on the Farsight novels……
