Hey guys,

Just something I'm throwing out here as a question / suggestion after talking about it with le Elmar.

Are any of you chaps up for a cooperative planet strike battle against one or more evil players of the naughty side for when the new planets* get shat out of the warp? We have the option to launch planet strike missions onto other planets, space port or not, conditions permitting, but instead of going in solo, why not turn it into something big and fun at the same time?

What I'm looking at is two or three of us banding together for a single planet strike mission against a similar group of prophets or servants, where we all bring say, a 1k pt list, play on a big ass table with plenty of strong points, defences and whatnot in an attempt to try and gain a good strong foothold on the planet.

The who and what of who gains land should the invaders win is something for another day, as I'm just gauging interest right now.

So, what say thee? I've got a nicely themed list ready myself so I can toss my Elysians into the fray good and proper!

Great idea. I strongly suggest keeping it at 1000 points per player or even less. Otherwise it quickly becomes an Apocalypse-like battle.
I have good experience with 750 - 1000 pts/player for team games, where both players together fill 1 Force org (so each player gets 1 HQ, both players together 3 Elites, 1 Fortification for the team, etc.). Possibly modify this based on the Planet Strike rules of course.
Would prefer also a rule of 'no allied detachments' as you're already bringing 2 different armies per team.

Excellent points on both the allotted point amounts (I think we can have a big Apocalypse battle at the eventual end of the campaign round or when a world seems to fully fall under the might of one faction) and the shared force org charts should most certainly make for an interesting conflict of interests and an interesting exercise in taking whatever you need but the kitchen sink, the allied exclusion might be problematic for some players perhaps, but it's a sacrifice they'll just have to make! Laughing

But again, I'm merely gauging interest right now and farming for ideas to pass along to campaign control, so keep the suggestions and criteria coming please.

Very interested, I like the idea of the shared FOC, too. 1k/player sounds about right as well.

I find that Vox brought up some good points.

You could also decide to take 750 points per player and have a minimum of 1 Troop choice to fill. During the co-op games I played so far, it seems that despite best intentions, there will often be a time constraint.

I assume that there is also just one warlord per side?

I'll probably miss this round, but if there is a next one, I would certainly like to join.

I would say that if it's a 2v2 game, 1250 to 1500 points may be better. However, if you play 3v3, 1000-750 is probably better due to time restrictions.

Granted, how much per player per side is a personal issue, as I'd rather play a 1k list myself in coop games, though the more veteran players would prefer larger armies.

On a more topic related note: In the 2 v 2 battles I have played so far, they often couldn't finish due to time constraints.
Would a time limit be an idea?

A limit would be a grand idea in all honesty, because all y'all got other things to do as well amirite. If it's two on two, 2k total per side (1k per player) I'd like to be generous and say, 2,5 to 3 hours tops. Not sure if that's too sharpish, but it would promote people not dawdling all too much.

I'm now beginning to see why Alessio was such a proponent of chess clocks in the hobby..

Great idea ! Love huge battles. Love coop. I'm in. I would say 3v3. 2999 points a team. 2 foc a team.
So you can really team up and think about it.
You need to field your warlord. But. Since its a team battle with 2 foc. You have a minimum of 4 troops. Lets say my teamies play 2 troops each. I should be permitted to play 0 troops (for example)

I'd suggest 1 HQ and 1 Troop minimum per player. And then fill the 2 force orgs as you see fit between you.

I think that going for 3000 points with 3 vs. 3 really starts to sound like a small Apoc battle, though. I'd keep it to 2 vs. 2 (1 FOC, 1 HQ and 1 Troop per player minimum) and max. 1000 pts per player if you want to finish within a reasonable time.

I would have all players use 1 FoC to prevent strange builds, sharing 2 or more FoC's allows one player to take 6 heavy choices and another 6 elites.

2 or 3 players or even 4 players is possible in an afternoon with 1000pnts per player. It's been a long time since I did something like this and we finished fast enough (it was another version of 40k and don't remember how many points but still ....).
